2026 Cross-Industry Compensation & Benefits Study

The IFDA 2026 Cross-Industry Compensation & Benefits Study provides a detailed analysis of key compensation- and benefits-related statistics for 55+ executive, salaried, and sales positions. The results are based on confidential surveys from 502 wholesale distribution companies, representing 7,646 locations, of which 52 companies and 575 locations are foodservice distributors.

NEW THIS YEAR: For the 2026 study, compensation data was collected using an incumbent-based approach. This means organizations reported compensation for individual employees matched to standardized survey job titles and seniority, rather than providing position-level averages.

Key Highlights:

  • Data is based on 2025 calendar year statistics.
  • Positions included in the survey include 55+ executive, management and sales positions.
  • Data is broken down by all participating firms and foodservice distributors (IFDA Firms), by annual sales (less than $10M, $10M to $50M, $51M to $100M, and over $100M), and by region (Northeast, South, Midwest, West, and Canada, where sufficient data is available).
  • Details on benefits like health care, 401K, and PTO.
  • Data on recruitment and retention, including turnover, quit and time-to-fill rates.
  • Details on compensation structure and benefits of inside and outside salespeople.
  • See Table of Contents for report details.

Price: Free to participating companies. An aggregate PDF report is available to non-participating IFDA Members for $799, and to IFDA Non-Members for $1,599.
